☀️ UVA, UVB, SPF… what does it all actually mean?

Here’s the sunscreen lesson we ALL need — because wearing SPF is one of the most important things you can do for the health and ageing of your skin.

UVA = Ageing
UVA rays penetrate deeper into the skin and contribute to premature ageing, pigmentation and long-term skin damage. They’re around all year — and can even penetrate through glass.

UVB = Burning
UVB rays are primarily responsible for sunburn and play a major role in skin cancer.

And here’s something you might not realise…

👉 The SPF number refers primarily to protection against UVB.

That’s why we don’t just look for a high SPF — we look for BROAD SPECTRUM protection, meaning your sunscreen protects against both UVA + UVB rays.

And remember: SPF isn’t a “put it on in the morning and forget about it” product.

☀️ Apply generously.
☀️ Reapply approximately every 2 hours when outdoors, and after swimming, sweating or towelling.
☀️ Don’t forget often-missed areas like ears, neck, décolletage and hands.

Not necessarily.

We’ve had quite a few people ask if they can stay in our full spectrum infrared sauna for 40 minutes instead of our usual 20–25 minute session.

But when we look at the research, many infrared sauna studies showing physiological benefits use exposures of around 15–30 minutes, depending on temperature and the protocol being studied.

The goal isn’t to stay in for as long as you possibly can. It’s about finding that sweet spot of time + temperature + consistency, while also considering hydration and heat stress.

That’s why our sessions are intentionally designed around 20–25 minutes of sauna time.

More isn’t automatically better. And this definitely isn’t an endurance sport. 😂🔥
